BEMÆRK: Ansøgningsfristen er overskredet
If you have an interest and knowledge in carrying out wind tunnel measurements in a group of highly competent researchers and engineers, a position as a research engineer/technician at DTU Wind and Energy Systems will be the perfect place to be.
The research engineer/technician will join a cross-disciplinary, international team working on developing experimental and numerical methods for wind turbine aerodynamics and aeroacoustics with funding from national and international research projects. Also, the newest research will be applied together with leading manufacturers within the wind turbine industry.
The job
Your work will primarily be focused on conducting wind tunnel tests in the Poul la Cour Tunnel – Denmark's largest wind tunnel, which is a national research infrastructure that supports research and development regarding aerodynamics and noise with focus on wind turbines. You will be responsible for setting up and carrying out tests in a collaboration with the existing wind tunnel team in the wind tunnel and our researchers in the area. Your activities can range from carrying out wind tunnel tests, mechanical installation of models in the wind tunnel, coupling of pressure sensors and other sensors to models, assessment of the correctness of the measurements if this does not measure as expected, possibly fault finding in the measuring system, maintenance and development of measuring instruments and the measuring set-up, in addition to communication with the customers - national and international - who have models tested in the wind tunnel. Also, work with design and construction of models and development of computer codes in relation to experiments should be carried out.
A brief description of the wind tunnel can be found at www.plct.dk. Flow speeds of up to 105 m/s can be achieved and as instrumentation in the wind tunnel there are 384 pressure sensors, 84 microphones and a number of other sensors for measuring pressure, temperature, humidity and other parameters.
The wind tunnel operation is closely connected with the aerodynamic and aeroacoustic research at DTU, which is carried out by around 40 people. As the facility is a national research infrastructure, many external users such as universities and Danish and global wind turbine manufacturers will test in the tunnel. You will participate in a number of national and international projects and contribute to the development of the wind tunnel, development of measurement methods and thus further optimization of the wind turbines' aerodynamic properties.
Our expectations to you
We expect you to have an interest in experimental work and functionality of sensors, and preferably insight to data collection, computer coding, construction and CAD skills:
- Craftsmanship background/experience and preferably insight to or experience with measuring technology
- Preferably insight to data collection, computer coding, construction and CAD skills
- Ability to solve practical problems
- Good analytical approach and self-management skills
- Ability to solve tasks within a certain deadline
- Communication skills in English
- A good team spirit and sense of humor
