BEMÆRK: Ansøgningsfristen er overskredet
Strengthen your methods skills and be part of an international research team looking at the security and ecological politics of Nordic space infrastructures.
Focus and tasks
I’m looking for an engaged and curious student assistant for a project focusing on space infrastructures in the Nordic countries. The project is interdisciplinary and international, including researchers from Sweden, Iceland, Denmark and Norway (where the project lead is based; funded by the Norwegian Research Council). The project investigates space stations in Sweden, Norway and Iceland, looking at political, economic, security and ecological dimensions.
The Danish project contribution focuses primarily on the political economy of space industries and infrastructures. The student assistant will collect data for mapping these industries and main actors across the Nordics. Based on this, the next task will then be contributing to a network analysis that will show possible linkages across sectors, industries and countries. There will also be other tasks such as collecting, categorizing and coding documents, as well as assisting in meetings.
The position is from March 1st 2024 and set for 7 hours a week. There is considerable flexibility in planning these hours so that there can be periods of working more or less in any given week. The project is a three-year project starting in January 2024.
Qualifications
- Apart from an interest in the project, ideally candidates would have:
- A background in International Relations, International Political Economy, Political Science, Sociology, or related social sciences.
- Academic language proficiency in English as well as preferably one of the Nordic languages.
- Affinity with quantitative social science and data collection. Experience with network analysis is a plus, but methods training can be provided.
- Ability to work independently, while also in participating in international project team meetings online (or even in person).
If you are interested in this position, please send a cover letter, CV and documentation of education (university + gymnasium).
More information
Online interviews will be held in week 7. For more details, please contact Laura Horn lhorn@ruc.dk or +45 51246781.
Terms of employment
The employment is 7 hours per week, and you will refer to the Head of Secretariat Signe Riis. As you are employed on project funds, your employment will be terminated automatically when the project ends.
The position will be filled according to the Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and HK.
It is a prerequisite that you are actively enrolled at a higher education institution or at a medium-cycle higher education.
