Hevesy Laboratory at DTU Health Tech is currently seeking a senior chemist with management experience and expertise in working in GMP-compliant radiopharmaceutical units with multiple cyclotrons and a wide range of radiopharmaceuticals and radionuclide products.
Job Description
We are the radiopharmaceutical unit of DTU Health Tech, and our focus is on conducting cutting-edge research on radionuclides while producing radiopharmaceuticals and various nuclides for commercial use. Our organization is GMP-compliant and approved to work with open and closed radioactive sources, including several unconventional and high-activity radionuclides that are not typically used in medical departments. We have four cyclotrons for isotope production, hot cells, clean room facilities, and a range of technical equipment. Our laboratory collaborates closely with other institutions specializing in fundamental dosimetry and with several European national laboratories to produce and use new radionuclides for therapy, diagnosis, and other social services. You are expected to become our new head of the “Radiopharmaceuticals and Nuclides” team, which consists of approximately 20 employees, including laboratory technicians and GMP staff in QA, QC, PM positions. You will report directly to the Head of Hevesy Laboratory.
Responsibilities
- People management as team leader for production and GMP staff.
- Lead and supervise the production, quality control, distribution, and development of radiopharmaceuticals and radionuclides for commercial use at the Hevesy Laboratory.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, such as customers, suppliers, regulators, Hevesy Innovation team, and other collaborators.
- Responsible for GMP process and product development.
- Responsible for ensuring smooth GMP daily operations.
Qualifications
- An academic degree such as a PhD in Chemistry/Radiochemistry with reasonably high level of physics.
- 10+ years of proven track record of managing a radiopharmaceutical team or unit similar to the Hevesy Laboratory
- A strong knowledge of radiation safety
- Knowledge of cyclotron production and radiochemical purification of experimental radionuclides
- Radionuclide analytical methods experience (gamma and X-ray spectroscopy, LSC, etc.)
- General handling, formulation and production of pharmaceuticals, incl. GMP
- An excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
In addition, the following criteria are considered advantageous but not requirements:
- A track record of scientific publications.
- Hot cell operations and automated systems experience.
- Radiation protection and dosimetry knowledge.
- Experience with radiopharmaceutical labeling procedures, such as chelation.
Salary and appointment terms
You will be employed according to the the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC – Academics in the State).
The position is full-time. We would like the candidate to start as soon as possible.
The workplace is located at DTU Risø Campus in Roskilde.
