Join DTU Sustain as a laboratory technician in radiochemical analysis and environmental monitoring

dato

Are you looking for a job where you will be part of an international laboratory within the field of environmental radioactivity and radiochemical analysis - a job with a good work-life balance, where you are part of a team, but still have your own areas of responsibility? Then we have the job for you as laboratory technician at DTU Sustain’s radioecology laboratory at Risø Campus. We have two openings – one as a time-unlimited position and one maternity cover for up to one year.

We are looking for a skilled and dedicated laboratory technician who is service-minded and approaches both research and educational activities with enthusiasm. You will work in an international environment as part of DTU Sustain’s Risø Laboratory – a leading laboratory in Europe within environmental radioactivity and radiochemical analysis. We are the Danish national competence center in the field of environmental radioactivity measurement and radioactive waste characterization, research and counselling.

The job
In your daily work, you will take part in environmental radioactivity monitoring and R&D activities. Your passion should be within the practical work, including laboratory sample analysis for radioactivity determination, and maintaining relevant equipment for measuring radionuclides.

Based on your competencies and experience you

  • work in close collaboration with other technicians and researchers as part of our laboratory technician team
  • prepare and analyze large sample series
  • calculate results, including quality assurance, before the delivery and communication of results to researchers and customers
  • maintain instruments and optimize protocols.

You will be referring to the Head of Laboratory, Luca Zanini, and be in daily dialogue with the scientific research staff.

Our expectations of you
Ideally, you are an experienced laboratory technician who feels at home in a laboratory environment. However, just as important as your experience are your personality, the way you apply your competencies, and your approach to your work. It will be an advantage to have good hands-on skills in laboratory work and experience within radiochemical analysis, radiometric (alpha, beta, gamma, liquid scintillation counting) and mass spectrometric (ICP-MS and ICP-OES) measurement techniques.

We expect that you:
  • naturally meet colleagues with a smile and enjoy helping others
  • possess strong collaboration skills and can communicate effectively with different nationalities
  • are highly motivated to gain new knowledge and skills
  • can independently perform laboratory work according to method descriptions and procedures
  • have flair for troubleshooting
  • are structured, flexible and have a responsible approach
  • can prioritize tasks and coordinate your work effectively with colleagues
  • have a constructive approach to new tasks in collaboration with your colleagues
  • are fluent in English and speak a Scandinavian language, or are willing to learn a Scandinavian language within the first years.

What we offer in return
We offer a place in a well-functioning and competent team of friendly and easily approachable colleagues, where you have:
  • a high degree of flexibility in your work life, as you will have a great influence on the planning and choice of action in your area of responsibility
  • a diverse range of exciting tasks in your daily work life
  • a good work-life balance
  • an opportunity to carry out work that can make a difference in ensuring that the environment is not polluted with radioactive substances.

We place emphasis on a high level of professionalism among our staff, so skills development is an integral part of our organization.
