BEMÆRK: Ansøgningsfristen er overskredet

DTU Wind and Vestas Wind Systems invite applications for a position as an industrial PhD student in wind energy as a part of the AptWind Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network. It is an industrial doctorate where you will spend 50 % of the time at DTU Wind and Energy Systems and 50 % of the time at Vestas Wind Systems, both in Denmark.

We need a motivated and self-driven person with solid background in engineering, computational or physical sciences.

You will  investigate the following topics:

  • Critical assessment of the existing knowledge of turbulence and design load cases for wind turbines reaching heights up to several hundred meters.
  • Use turbines as wind sensors and compare with meteorological measurements.
  • Use Vestas’ fleet of wind turbines to quantify the load generating conditions due to atmospheric conditions and turbulence.

You will get  a rewarding and challenging job in an international environment, collaborating and networking with research colleagues from all over the world. A position with academic freedom, tempered by responsibility, at a world-leading wind energy manufacturer and a wind energy institute with recognised academic excellence.

You have  a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree and some international experience. For general eligibility criteria see https://www.aptwind.eu/eligibility

Furthermore, you are able to:

  • Explore new concepts, technologies, and approaches in the field of wind energy.
  • Collaborate effectively in an international multi-disciplinary environment with fellow doctoral candidates and experts in academia and industry.
  • Communicate your findings and ideas clearly and effectively.

We are  a world-leading wind energy institute that puts knowledge to work through cutting-edge research, innovation and development of technology and a global leader in sustainable energy solutions that has installed more turbines than anyone else.

The Atmospheric Physics and Turbulence for Wind Energy (AptWind) Doctoral Network  provides training for a new creative, entrepreneurial, innovative and resilient industry-oriented academic generation apt to face current and future challenges at the frontier of research within atmospheric flow physics and turbulence for wind energy applications, where the trained Doctoral Candidates (DCs) will be able to convert knowledge and ideas into new products, and services for economic and social benefit.

We offer you the opportunity to be a part of AptWind which will not only facilitate fifteen DCs in reaching a high level of technical and project-specific excellence but will also provide you with many opportunities for developing skills that are transferable to a wider landscape of opportunities. You will share your work time 50-50 between academia and industry. After completing the program, you will have a thorough understanding of the process from research via innovation to industry implementation and a strong career-defining network.

AptWind is funded by Horizon Europe through grant number 101119550, see www.aptwind.eu for more information.
