Department of People and Technology at Roskilde University, Denmark, invites applications for a position as PhD Fellow in the PhD programme of Information Technology and/or Space and Society. The position is available from November 15th, 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is set to a period of three years.

Description of the PhD project
The PhD position is funded by the EU Interreg ÖKS-project InnoTech – Taskforce. The project involves collaboration between Gate 21, the Danish Technical University, Roskilde University, a number of Danish and Swedish municipalities, and two SME partners – in total 16 partners. One of the major aims of the project is to develop a process tool that can support municipalities and other public authorities in approaching, developing, and implementing new and innovative data-driven infrastructures and sustainable solutions. Ideally, the process tool can support all levels of a data-driven innovation project from the strategic level to the process-, product-/service-, and technical levels. The process tool will be built and designed on basis of experiences from existing models and the on-going demonstration projects within the InnoTech-project.

As PhD Fellow you will be associated with research in adaptation of methods for data-driven planning and implementation including design and evaluation processes focusing on user involvement/participation, user-centric approaches, development, and contextual design as well as the derived consequences of technology adaptation and use. The PhD fellow is expected to participate in the central work package 3.2 that focuses on developing the process tool which includes but is not limited to:

  • empirical data collection
  • system design and architecture
  • system evaluation (e.g., of MVPs - minimum viable products)

  • ecosystem development
  • documentation and IoT-wiki development
  • (see also below under “Questions”)
