The Department of Wind Energy has a vacancy for a Senior Project Developer for WES modeling tool chain position in the Wind Energy Systems Division at DTU Risø Campus in Denmark. DTU Wind Energy is a mission driven university department with a vision to support the global wind energy sector to achieve 100% green energy globally.
DTU Wind Energy develops state-of-the-art models to ensure the best performance, lowest cost and overall structural integrity of wind turbines as well as advance the design, operation and control of entire wind power plants for the future needs of the evolving energy system. This is a highly multi-disciplinary issue involving modeling of wind flow, aerodynamics, structures, controls, and more at varying levels of fidelity. The Wind Energy Systems division focuses on engineering models for wind farm control, wind farm design optimization and wind resource assessment, and implements its research in software tools and in courses to the benefit of the wind energy community in general.
Responsibilities and tasks
Your work will mainly be focused within wind farm siting, design engineering and optimization activities in research and commercial projects at DTU Wind Energy. Specific tasks will include:
- Lead the process to formulate and implement the project pipeline strategy for the division’s modeling tool-chain of siting, measurement, wind farm and hybrid plant design & optimization and the integration with weather-driven system. Drive the technology focus and project selection to achieve our targeted project portfolio.
- With a deep understanding the technical aspects of integrated wind and energy systems, lead the identification and communication to consortium partners, track the key success factors required to win both competitive calls and direct collaboration with industry, and develop projects ideas successfully.
- Align with internal stakeholders regarding the implementation of the project consortium strategy, i. e. the adjustment of resources, consortium members, focus areas, and the development of new project ideas and consortium, mainly focusing on the modeling tool chain of (Py)WAsP-TOPFARM-PyWake-HyDesign-CorRES
- Pursue project opportunities in close collaboration with industry, lead the meetings and discussion during project acquisition processes, which involves guiding engineers and researchers in order to derive project formulation.
- Keep the division management team about the process of contract setup and negotiation, ensuring that roles and responsibilities are distributed according to our interests.
- Take the project manager role in the early stage of project development for new opportunities. Once the project is granted, prepare the PI’s for the onboarding of new projects.
Qualifications
The candidate must have the below key skills:
- Deep understanding the technical aspects of integrated wind and energy systems
- Good understanding of the wind farm modelling tool-chain of (Py)WAsP-TOPFARM-PyWake-HyDesign-CorRES
- Successful track record in developing projects with industry players in the wind sector
- The candidate should have a Master or Bachelor degree in either Science or Engineering

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
